I hear the sound like a long forgotten love.
I should be moving on, but I never get enough.
Awoke the spirits, now they're rustlin' in the night.
Just another memory. Now I'm running from the light.

I sit and wonder why the water never goes.
I fooled myself to think that I'd ever get to you.

I pay the price, holding hands with my past.
I lost the power of discernment that I had.
I'm just a writer searchin' for my truth.
Where I choose to make my stand, I found it all in you.

I sit and wonder why the darkness never goes.
I fooled myself to think that the world is dreaming too.
I'm messin' with the wind.

A foolish love, on the trail of mystery.
No faith in my sorry, 'cause love is just a thief.
Standing on hollowed ground (where battles came before).
Brought down in abandon, feels like my soul's at war.

It's a long hard time in danger, living on the surface of the sun.
Didn't know why this happened. I never want to hurt no one.
I'm always driftin', my plea for mercy never heard.
I lost everything I had. Brought down by my own words.
My path was tainted, part of a forgotten dream.
To get back to even, it seems so far to me.
