FACEBOOK (12/23/14): Ah. I am about to enter a new song writing cycle, which I typically do around the end of the year. I think I am ready to go. It is also time to reflect on some of my favorite releases by other artists (2014). My top three albums this year (no particular order): Robert Plant, Lullaby And ...The Ceaseless Roar; Big Wreck, Ghosts; and The Robert Cray Band, In My Soul. Honorable mention goes to: Ryan Adams, Ryan Adams; Tom Petty, Hypnotic Eye; Walter Trout, The Blues Came Calling; Rich Robinson, The Ceaseless Sight; Lee Fields And The Expressions, Emma Jean; St. Paul And The Broken Bones, Half The City; Chrissie Hynde, Stockholm; and Counting Crows, Somewhere Under Wonderland. Great stuff in 2014.
AND... Merry Christmas, Happy New Year ...see ya in 2015..

FACEBOOK (12/01/14): Been shooting MORE footage for upcoming music videos over the last week. This included a marathon of shooting on THANKSGIVING MORNING. The cool thing about shooting then was that locations opened up that wouldn't normally have been available. Yeah. Check out this photo of me in front of a Clint Eastwood mural.... I kept asking myself... did he fire SIX shots? or only five.... in the confusion, I don't quite remember.

FACEBOOK (11/23/14): Shooting new video this week for some of next years projects. THIS photo is from the performance of "A Wind Is Gonna Blow", which is quite a blues rock workout with a fairly lengthy guitar solo (that I was REALLY getting into playing). We shot this footage in the Roser Park neighborhood of St. Petersburg (FL). It's quite a breathtaking area with an atmospheric vibe that makes me think of New Orleans. I like just walking around down there. While I was playing guitar, in the middle of the street, I drew a few curious on-lookers my way who seemed to enjoy the moment. I was also dodging cars, sometimes not realizing until they were RIGHT up on me... but they was cool baby. And all-in-all it was a smashing good time.

TURNING A CORNER INTO A NEW SPACE.
FACEBOOK (08/18/14): I spent the last 9 days writing new songs. Having no particular expectations except wanting to do something different, ...I proceeded. About the only music I leaned on for inspiration was The Rolling Stones and early Who music. Well, in those 9 days, 14 new songs (that are as inspired as anything I have ever done) began to take shape. What was particularly inspiring was the lyrics. They came from a part of me that I have never mined before. I feel like a light got turned on. Anyway. These songs aren't completed. They are very promising sketches. You'll hear more about THIS later. For now.... a week from tomorrow is the release of SHELL GAME II (the second of three). The first song, "Sleepless Every Night" is available on iTunes. The album is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon.com.

FACEBOOK (07/15/14): In between all the Shell Game fun, I'm both listening to and making... more music. On the listening end, a brand-new-just-out-today album from one of my favorite bands: Big Wreck, Ghosts. Big Wreck is based out of Toronto (Canada) and led by Ian Thornley who is a very talented musician. His melody and musicality are unlike anyone else that I've ever heard. He's not a bad guitar player either. Ghosts is Big Wreck's fourth album, all of which I really like. Albatross, their last album set the bar really high. It will take a few listens to see if Ghosts is quite as good :) As for making music... I always try to stay well ahead and I don't know what else to do with myself except make music. Darn. I have about fifteen songs ALREADY... for an upcoming project....

Confused??? This is (actually) the very beginning of the story. Go UP! to start.
