REQUIRED LISTENING:
WALTER TROUT AND THE FREE RADICALS
Live Trout.
Recorded live at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival (2000), this double CD is a testament to an awesomely powerful performer.
I witnessed this show firsthand and was blown to smithereens by Walter Trout's prowess as a guitar virtuoso and damn good vocalist.
It hits you hard from the getgo with "I Can Tell," and doesn't let up! "The Reason I'm Gone" grabs your
heart right out of your chest while "Let Me Know" and "Say What You Mean" show a great amount of versatility.
Walter Trout's performance is made even more astounding by the fact that he was running a very high fever and sleep deprived ...yet
still managed to find a way to feed off the energy of the crowd and take his playing to a higher level. By the time he rips up
Bob Dylan's "I shall be released" you realize how lucky we all are that this great show was captured forever. Rock
on Walter!
p.s. If you listen closely you can hear my friend Sue's world famous whistle peppered throughout the recording.
