REQUIRED LISTENING:
TERRENCE TRENT D'ARBY
Vibrator.
I found this to be one of the more compelling discs of the last decade. There are a lot of different elements
in Terrence Trent D'arby's music: Funk, Soul, Psychodelia, Rock and Jazz -- each style holds its own in this mix. Stand out
tracks include the over-the-top soul of "Holding Onto You," the Hendrixian rock of "Vibrator"
and the sonic splendor of "TTD's Recurring Dream." It's hard to believe that all of these songs came
from one mind. This voice has the range to pull it off. Unfortunately, I think some of Terrence Trent D'arby's earlier pop albums
typecast him. This CD is above all of that. To the best of my knowledge, he hasn't recorded another CD since this
one. It's a shame because his talents are immense.
