REQUIRED LISTENING:
ARETHA FRANKLIN
I Never Loved a Man, the Way That I Love You.
This is Aretha's first album for Atlantic Records and one of the finest soul albums ever released. Produced by Atlantic guru,
Jerry Wexler, this album was recorded at the famed Muscle Shoals Studio in Alabama. The material is stellar -- "Drown In
My Own Tears," "Don't Let Me Lose This Dream," and "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man." What can you say
about Aretha Franklin? Nobody has more range and she sits next to Otis Redding at the head of the pantheon of soul singers. Rolling
Stones called this album "the greatest soul album of all time" and I agree. Aretha did a LOT of great work for
Atlantic, but this is her BEST.
