REQUIRED LISTENING:
ALBERT COLLINS
Ice Pickin'.
Albert Collin's stinging guitar playing is one of the most recognizable signatures in the history of the blues.
Collins hits that one note and it just seems to resonate throughout your entire body. Ice Pickin' contains one
of my favorite slow blues tunes of all time: "Cold, Cold Feeling." This song is so soulFULL, and balances very
nicely against the playfulness of "MasterCharge," "Conversation With Collins" and "Honey, Hush."
It's easy to relate to Albert King's music because many of his songs feature everyday problems that we all encounter.
He also created some of the funkiest runs in history which garnered him the nickname: The Master of the Telecaster.
We lost Albert in 1993 but he put a lasting stamp on the blues first.
Guitarplayer's NOTE: Collins put humbuckers on his Telecaster, which helped create a unique sound.
